I wonder if any one else felt like this? I had my first chemo cycle yesterday. And today I feel absolutely awful, sick, no energy, with a very negative mindset. Is this normal? :(
Hi Ann
Usually will you feel a bit better after a few days up until the next treatment or can you feel horrendous throughout the whole 3 weeks?
You will feel better for a few days before each new treatment.
So usually you will feel awful for 2 weeks have a few days of feeling better and then go back to feeling awful again?
Hi Youhavegotthis
It will depend on which chemo drugs you have had? Some have an effect the first few days and then you start to feel better till the next round. Others have a later effect.
I feel for you. Try to think of it as your friend, which will be dealing with those nasty wee BC cells and working to make you better. It is difficult, but doable. If you are feeling very sick, contact your oncology nurse as they may be able to tweak your support meds. Apart from that roll with it and rest when your body tells you to.
Wishing you all the best

Yes but you might feel better for a week or more, it depends how you react, which chemo drugs etc, I was on accelerated EC so every 2 weeks, when the chemo drugs changed for my last 4 treatments it was 3 weekly but different and there is a build up in your system so it gets harder towards the end. Chemo is horrid because it makes you feel unwell each time but it is the price of life, I found it really difficult is accept but that is the way it is. One day at a time, there is an end in sight, you will get through this, we have all been there and will support you along the way and before you know it you will be the one supporting others on their journey. Youhavegotthis is a good name, hang in there, with you all the way., youn are not alone. Love Ann
Aah sorry you feeling this way I think it’s pretty normal sadly but it will pass. In the beginning I bounced back to feeling well about a week after treatment so had a good couple of weeks inbetween of feeling well. If worried though call your oncology team they can give you things to help with sickness etc. I was very sick on my first one but they then gave me stronger anti sickness and I felt much better. Hope you feel better soon xx
Yes ! I had exactly the same. I had all the side effects listed. Literally couple of days before next one I was feeling better and then the hell was starting again. I end up not having all of mine schedule as I end up in hospital few times with sepsis etc. Anything which make you worried call the oncology number. Just count down. You can make it! Stay strong
Hang in there. I found that I felt meh for 10 days. First 24 hours nausea and vomiting and then severe fatigue hits around day 4 and 5.
It does get better and you will feel yourself again. Rest and just listen to your body if you have any concerns, phone the 24 hour line.
Good luck
Wendy
