Hi,
Following a routine mammogram a good friend has been told she needs to have a lumpectomy and a week of radiotherapy in October.
I don't live close to her (300 miles away) so can't offer support in person. However I would like to send her something to help her get through this or to pamper her during/after her treatment. Whilst I am not unfamiliar with cancer (lost my dad to bowel and my mother and mother-in-law to lung), I don't know much about breast. Is there anything she will need to help her through her treatment or for afterwards maybe - lots of chocolate to boost her spirits perhaps! My late mam used to make heart cushions for the local hospital. Will one of those help?
Sorry if I seem a little vague or clueless but any help would be most apricated.
Many thanks,
Gertie
I think almost anything you can send through the post would cheer her up.
I was sent nice moisturisers, nail polish, bubble bath and random foodie treats, and lots and lots of flowers and cards. You could also send nice non-alcoholic drinks - I've sent friends a case of different flavours from Square Root Drinks. If you know them well enough to know their size and preferences, you could send nice soft PJs.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
