Hi Everyone

I am new to the forum and very nervous !

Where  do I start ? Had my final consultation on Wednesday and found out I have a small cancerous tumour in both breasts ( apparently unusual ?) also question marks over my lymph nodes .

Surgery for removal of both tumours and sentinel biopsy booked for next Friday, 17th September .

I am crapping myself !! Well not literally but you know what I mean right?

Christ , I originally went to see a specialist about shoulder pain and after MRI picked up unusual activity in my right lymph nodes this painful journey began . I couldn’t believe it when 2 weeks ago I was told I had a cancer tumour in my left breast , now my right to . What the ……No history of breast cancer in my family  and apart from the shoulder pain I felt generally fit and well . My breasts felt absolutely normal.

I honestly can’t work out whether I am incredibly lucky or quite unlucky .

Facing 5 weeks radiotherapy but if the biopsy comes back with cancer it’s chemo, then radiotherapy .

The uncertainty is driving me mad . Clearly , it’s 3 am when I am writing this .

anyone else facing the same surgery and waiting game out there ?

or trodden this path and can help me ?

Trying to be brave , holding on to my family and friends but inside terrified and sad .

  • Good morning....I hope you're back to sleep but if not....you've found the right place. Practically everyone who posts here knows just how you feel. The waiting is the worst. Surprisingly once treatment starts, we all tend to feel more in control. The 17th is not too far away and after that you will have a clearer picture of what comes next.

It is always good news when the tumours are found. Yes, the treatments can be unpleasant but the success rate for treating BC that is found early is high. Sadly it often those that have been left to spread that we hear about in high profile news stories.

I hadn't realised I had a problem either. A routine mammogram found mine. Triple negative, it required both chemo and radiotherapy but that was nearly six years ago and I have been signed off with just an annual mammogram to keep a check for the future.

I wish you well. This will be a worrying week....fear of the unknown always is......but it will pass and be a step towards your recovery.

    Take care. Love Karen

  • Hi PenelopeJ57, sorry to hear about your cancer but you are in the right place for support.  We have all been where you are now so you are not alone, I had 7 x chemo, lumpectomy, radiotherapy and targeted therapy.  When you have your results and know you treatment plan someone on here will have been on the same plan, Love Ann
