Hello i hope everyone is able to have a good weekend, im just messaging for some support or reassurrance i guess, i have started my ec chemo last mon i had paclitaxel and carboplatin before this for 10 sessions once a week when i was first diagnosed in march. I managed to function relatively fine during this chemo but since my first ec last mon i have not been able to do anything at all really, and have just had to sleep and lie down since then, just felt so unwell although not had anu high temp so far. i am just wondering i guess if this is expected, although i know everyone reacts so differently to chemo just cant face to have the second one....
I am sorry you are feeling so unwell. I wasn't too well with EC either. I needed to stay in bed for several days as when I had my EC it had a third drug added...F....which made me physically sick too.
I have read that nowadays the dose can be reduced if it upsets you so make sure you tell oncology how this has affected you. I am assuming you took your antiemetics before you had the chemo. It is supposed to help. As you haven't got a temperature yet I feel you will start to improve soon.....perhaps tomorrow. I was usually about a week before I could think about being up all day. I know why you feel like giving up but do continue if you can. You are already over half way.
Despite chemo being so unpleasant, I have now been clear of cancer almost six years. It seems the treatment was worth the side effects.
I am pleased you have completed the Taxotere part of the chemo without mishap. I had problems with that too.
Hope things get better soon. Take care. Unfortunately there are often people like yourself who do react more severely to the chemo.but the weeks do pass, and you are on your way to recovery.
Love Karen
Hi, I had the same chemo as you but the other way round. Starting in January I had 3 cycles of EC followed by 9 weekly sessions of paclitaxel and carboplatin. I found that with the EC, I was fine for about 4 days then I crashed and was tired for 3 or 4 days. I also felt quite spaced out and also my head felt like it had been rattled around in a metal box. It wasn't a headache and that's the only way I could describe it. I did push myself though to try to carry on as "normal" as possible. I still ate well but weirdly couldn't face hot drinks.
The scans that I had after chemo showed that the lump had gone completely and after lumpectomy and SLNB all was clear.
I hope that you feel better soon, you are well on your way to finishing chemo.
Best wishes x
Hi Karen thankyou so much for your reply and kind words. Yes i am hoping tonorrow and Monday i will be able to do more. Ah so sorry u had problems with the f it is so hard when it feels like it wont end but as u say i will keep going and just think only 2 more ec and then onto radiotherapy. Ive had my single mastectomy a d auxiliary lymph node clearance now so that's one less major hurdle.
That's brilliant that you have been 6 years since all your treatment. Xxx
Thankyou for your kind message also, im glad that you could manage the ec ok and u have also completed your treatment it definitely proves worth all the pain and tough times and to keep going. Xxx
I really hope that you can dig deep and complete your chemo.
I have to have 5 x radiotherapy sessions next. I have an appointment on 30th to discuss so will probably be next month and also taking Letrozole for 5 years.
All the best x
Thankyou so much yes i will just push through and get on with it again best i can. I hope that radiotherapy is all smooth sailing for you. Xx
