Hi has anyone else had their filgrastim stopped felt so ill on it they have said I can stop . I just felt i couldn’t feel like that for another 5 days .

  • I had no side effects at all from the filgrastim so just wondering whether you are absolutely sure that's what is making you feel ill and not the chemo? I had to inject the filgrastim from day 3, which coincided with feeling pretty awful anyway.

I took every single injection and still only just managed to get through to my last chemo - my blood counts were at the lowest they could do and no more. I think without the injections, I would have had a few delays as my bloods tried to recover by themselves.

Sorry you are feeling so ill though, have you spoken to your oncologist to get their opinion on the side effects, and risks of stopping?

    Hi beathebreast

yes I’m pretty sure it was the jabs as only started after I injected and it was the achy ness sounds a bit mundane but literally could not sleep or even slightly relax I was getting very anxious which just added . I spoke to the helpline after doing 2 they said I could stop . Still feel pretty rubbish but more headachy and tired now but I can at least relax a bit xx

  • Filgrastim was rubbish for me on the first round - achey, twitchy, all sorts. Having a bath helped (I had one almost every day) and I took codeine before bed to settle things and help me sleep. Took the jabs for ten days each cycle Sweat

After the first round though it was much better! From then on I got the aches for one day, then recovered fine... just had the other chemo effects to deal with Tada

Codeine and antihistamines help if you're having joint or bone pain, but it can hit some people really hard.
