Hi.  I am now 3 weeks post lumpectomy and 2 nodes removed. Very lucky as Stage 1 with clear lymph nodes.  Starting Tamoxifen this week and awaiting radiotherapy.  Surgeon says scar is fine.  However I’m  still very sore with very sharp pains at times.  Takes my breath away sometimes and weirdly upsets me.  Is this to be expected for some time yet?  Thanks  very much x

  • I am also 3 weeks post lumpectomy and it's still impossible to sleep on my side and very tender, I guess it takes a while to heal

  • I'm nearly 12 weeks post lumpectomy and just started radiotherapy and get shooting pains and dull aches. I know its healing and it does get better but takes time. I've had a lot of tingly sensation back of my affected arm which are the nerves healing. One nurse told me its something like 2mm a month it grows back so going to take ages. I had 3 out of 4 sentinel nodes removed too. It is not a nice feeling to get sharp pains though so I do empathise.

    Keep going...one day at a time x

Sorry to hear you’re suffering too.  It helps to know that this normal.  I’ll just get on with it, knowing it will get better with time.

Thanks Tired Minion.  My arm and shoulder blade are still numb but tingling sounds like the healing process.  A small price to pay I guess for having it removed.  Thanks for the support x
