Hello,

It was confirmed I had breast cancer on Thursday, it looks like it's gone into one, or two of my lymph notes. The area in my breast is quite big. They took out samples for Biopsy. I'm going back on Thursday to find out the results of my biopsy and treatment plan. They said they will need to do a scan to make sure the cancer hasn't spread anywhere else. Wheh do they normally do a scan and how long does it take to get the results back? I'm going out of my mind with worry and thinking the worst.

Many Thanks

Opal

Hi Opal, your situation is very similar to mine & it can be a very scary & worrying time waiting for tests, scans & results.

When I received my suspected diagnosis on 4th May, I had a CT scan on my chest, abdomen & pelvic areas within 2 weeks on 18th May & a full body MRI scan within 4 weeks on 1st June. I received the scan results on 11th June which thankfully showed the cancer had NOT spread. I was immediately referred to the Oncology Dept.

I had my 1st oncology apt on 15th June (my 70th birthday) to confirm diagnosis & discuss treatment options. Further tests had to be arranged & I started 4 sessions of chemotherapy on 9th July, I've now had 3 sessions with the last one due on 13th Sept. By 1st week of Oct part one of my journey will be over.

Stay safe, be kind to youself & take great care.

    Jen

    Hi Jen,

Thanks so much for your response. Yes, it really is a very worrying time and I only found out I have cancer on Thursday, so it's all been a lot to take in.

Good luck on your journey with your treatment and thanks for reaching out.

    Many Thanks
