I was coping pretty well, had my lumpectomy on the 21st July, and chased up the results today, I was told I would have them in six weeks. I'm getting edgy so called to see if the results were in today just over 5 weeks, I was told they may be back next week then another week for the appointment. The calmness I felt so far just left me, my legs went to jelly, it sounds like a cliche but it happened, my legs just went weak, heart rate up, full on panic attack. I've managed to sleep for an hour and feeling calmer again. The waiting is just crippling, I was doing so wel but today is a bad day. Just needed to share that with people who would understand.
Unfortunately I do think it depends on where you are. We live in Somerset and Yeovil hospital has been amazing. They moved the chemo to St Margaret's hospice during covid but now have even more space available to treat patients. Covid really is affecting all of us!
I am new to all this . Had a core biopsy last week. Was allocated a breast cancer nurse straight away . Is this normal ? It has scared the life out of me . Conversation with my GP today pretty much confirmed this is cancer. I am now assuming the worst and feel hopeless. To top it all I was supposed to see a consultant tomorrow but there are no appointments. Any advice welcome don’t know what to think .
7 weeks wow , how do you do it. What treatment did you have initially. I just want it all taken away am terrified. I have had a horrendous 18 months with other stuff going on and my mental heah really suffered, to the point I didn’t want to be here anymore. Now this has totally floored me and I just want to live. Maybe this is Karma for thinking like I did .
Hi there
I am sorry that you are now on this journey. Yes, it is normal to get a breast care nurse straight away I did as well and to be honest, they were amazing! They often contacted me to hear how i am and I could contact them as well with any questions.
At this point of your journey, the waiting is the worst! Did they give you any information om the type of bc, tumoursize etc? I presume you had your mammogram and ct scan already?
What I can say is that a wait of a few weeks won't make that much difference when it comes to tumour size etc. Hopefully they can fit you in soon.
In the mean time, get on here and ask questions etc. Also speak go macmillan and get some emotional support should you need it.
You are not alone in this. Everyone on here will help where we can.
Wendy
Welcome Harleybear.
I’m sorry to hear that you also joined the club. They do normally allocate a breast care nurse straight away. As daunting it may sound, it’s better as you know you can reach out to someone when you need to.
They did mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy. They just said that the lymph nodes they took was positive. But they are waiting to get back to us to say whether all 4 tumours there was her2 negative or positive . Biggest tumour was 35 cm. so that’s it. Now waiting for ct and bone scan, which needs to be done before mdt, but still waiting for an appointment
what about for you? Have you got your results?
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
