After posting two weeks ago for the first time (see fast track)
I have see the consultant this morning and I have had a diagnosis of cancer. However, it’s not that straightforward (if having cancer in your breast can ever be straightforward)
The biopsy is showing ‘small cell’ cancer not normally primary in the breast. So, the grown up thinking is that it’s possible there is another site. A full body and bone scan is the first bridge to cross. To establish whether there are any tumours elsewhere. It’s not impossible that it has started in my breast and not unknown. Just very rare.
I have no signs or symptoms of anything else, no coughs or pains etc. So, it’s back to wait & see !
Hi Nanaroo, my aunt was diagnosed 4 years ago with small cell cancer in her lungs, which had become inoperable by the time she went to the doctor as she really, really hated doctors and refused to go. The hospital initially didn't do a biopsy as she only wanted palliative care, but when they did eventually convince her were very surprised that it was actually small cell breast cancer in her lung. Goodness knows how many years she'd ignored it, but just to say it exists! Good luck with the scans and treatment. x
