Hi all,
Im coming up to six weeks post chemo and am still suffering from aches, especially in my legs / thighs. Anyone else finding this and have you found anything that helps (aside from regular pain killers). Paracetamol doesn’t really touch mine and I’m not too keen on popping pills all the time - I’m so fed up of taking stuff after chemo!
Also still struggling with fatigue a bit but I think that’s here to stay fit a while!
Thanks,
Ruby xx
Hi, I found my legs felt like jelly for a good 6 weeks or so following docetaxel but then did get better quite quickly after that. I walked every day which I found helped.
Thanks. I’ve not been great at walking but being mobile does help. I’m also quite wobbly which is affecting my confidence. Docetaxel really is horrible!!
Hi Ruby
I’m 12wks post chemo and my thighs are still achy they are easing a wee bit I spoke to my oncologist on Thursday and he said it can take up to a year for side effects to go. I try and walk everyday but they are still achy especially when getting up when sitting down for a while. The same for me paracetamol and ibuprofen didn’t touch it. I have also noticed that the top of my arms are getting achy now as well.
Take care
Anne Xx
Hi Anne,
Gosh it’s tough isn’t it? I didn’t really ache that much during treatment it’s been the last few weeks that’s it’s been harder to deal with. My arms have also started to be achey too. Do you take anything for it now?
How’s the hair doing now? I have decent coverage on the sides and half way across the top of my head but still almost nothing at the front!! Frustrating!

Hi ruby
its very frustrating if these aches would go away I would be fine. Are you on letrozole? My aces started after my last docetaxel. I found nothing that takes the aches away. I bought hemp oil cream to rub on my thighs but it hasn’t helped at all. My hair is coming in thick and fast I have an even coverage all over although the colour is awful salt & pepper. Eyelashes have come in too but I still have no eyebrows you can see the outline but not one hair is there. Did your eyebrows come in?

I’m not on any tablets yet. My op is on Monday and then I think it will be Tamoxifen but no one has said anything yet.
Yes, aches after the last Docetaxel- it really is awful stuff. Glad your hair is doing so well, I’d just like an even coverage! My eyelashes are starting to grow back and I have a few eyebrow hairs left but no sign of the rest growing back at all. I bought tatto eyebrows but they look ridiculous and I just got some stencils but I can’t get them to be the same height when I put them on lol!! Just drawing them in with an eyebrow pencil at the moment, I feel naked without them!

Good luck for Monday will be thinking of you. Are you having a lumpectomy or mastectomy? Ha ha I bought tattoo eyebrows as well but they also looked ridiculous. Can’t quite master the art of pencilling them in so tend to go without.

Thanks Anne. I’m having a lumpectomy - the chemo did it’s job and there’s no visible sign of the tumour left so they’ll remove all the tissue from that area and do the sentinel node clearance - will see how things are when pathology comes back.

Hi Red Ruby & Diamondgirl,
I too am suffering aches and pains in my legs, arms and my hands big time and would you believe it has been near to 8 months since I finished chemo? I liken the pain to really bad arthritis, especially in my fingers that feel tight and swollen (and trigger finger on my left middle hand) My legs are stiff esp. in the mornings and whenever I sit down for any length of time - I'm like an old lady trying to stand up. I am less worried for hearing Ruby's onc. telling her it could take up to a year for the side effects to go. My aches weren't half this bad following chemo, seems to have gotten worse in the last couple of months. Is that normal? I've just started taking Omega XL, waiting for some arthritis gloves and a copper bracelet to arrive to see if that helps.
So happy to know that I'm not completely alone on this. Thanks ladies
Good luck Ruby with the lumpectomy - It'll be over before you know it. I had the same in May, followed by radiotherapy. I wonder if the radiotherapy has something to do with the pain? or maybe it was the vaccination or maybe I'm just getting old LOL
.
Either way, good luck to you Ruby, you'll be in my prayers for a full and speedy recovery.
Best of luck
Thanks so much Faithworks. Sorry to hear you’re still having such pain eight months out, really hope it eases up for you and you can get some help. You’re definitely not alone.
Thanks also for the good wishes on surgery, I’ll find out after that about radiotherapy, but I’m taking it as a given.
Taje good care,
Ruby xx
