High Grade DCIS

Hello everyone, I was diagnosed with 38mm High grade DCIS in September 2019 (age 51)and had a lumpectomy followed by 15 sessions of radiotherapy.

My sister was diagnosed at age 49 with bowel cancer, and underwent chemotherapy but the cancer subsequently spread to her brain and liver and she lost her battle in December 2020 at age 51.

I was wondering has anyone had any recurrence of breast cancer or any other cancer similar to me!

im just panicking as I don’t know whether I can feel a lump in my breast!!!

have made an appointment with the doctor for tomorrow!

I had routine blood tests a couple of weeks ago and was told my haemoglobin is really low and no reason for it! Have put on a lot of unexplained weight and just very fatigued!!

so feeling really anxious!

Hi ellie2012 I'm so sorry you are feeling like this and find yourself here.

First if you think you can feel a lump go and get it looked sooner rather than later. Most lumps are nothing but of course there is always a chance for any woman that it might be cancerous.

Hopefully and probably it's nothing but should it turn out to be cancerous treatment for cancer these days has come a long way and success rates are very high so don't panic. So go and get it checked because the earlier something is caught the easier it is to deal with it.

I was told by my medical team that the vast majority of us don't get a recurrence. It's the few that do that you hear about and that makes it seem like the numbers are higher than they are.
