Hi i recently had a wide incision lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy. The letter I have just received says a couple of things i don't understand and wouod welcome any advice.
It says -
0/4 lymph nodes - how many does that mean?
Also
HER2-ve previously it said HER2 negative is this the same thing?
Any info welcome thanks
I agree with Jo. I’ve just had my results and that’s what my letter said. My consultant told me that I am ER snd PR positive snd neither of the two nodes they took were positive. I’m sure others will comment too xx
Hi
Yes Jo is indeed correct. You had 4 sentinel lymph nodes removed and analysed and these were clear of cancer. HER2-ve is the negative. So, you have had some very good news. I'm hoping for you that the rest of your diagnosis was ER+ve (and possibly PR+ve) - which will mean tablets for 5 - 10 years (depending on age and size of tumor removed) and with any luck no chemo, just radiotherapy.
It is a much easier journey without the chemo. and this was my diagnosis. ER/PR+ve, HER2-ve, 0 sentinel lymph nodes affected. My friend was diagnosed with ER+ve and HER2+ve shortly after me - chemo. took its toll on her. Unfortunately as did the tablets for her, but I have been perfectly fine on mine.
Kindest wishes, Lesley
Hi yes my ER and PR were both 8 so been told I will need meds and also radiotherapy but now waiting for Oncotype DX test results to see if I need chemo. Bit of a shock as I was initially told no chemo so still fingers crossed
