Hello everyone,

It has been many years since I have been on this forum.

I have now finished 5 years of Zoladex  (started after chemo, radiotherapy and mastectomy..still on Exemestane)

I would like to ask community if anyone has experienced withdrawals after finishing? I have been laid up with migraines, dizziness and insomnia. I’m beginning  to think it may be related to stopping Zoladex. Has anyone else experienced this . Thanks B

  • I wish I could help, that doesn't sound fun at all, but I am selfishly interested in people's answers as I am in my first year of zoladex and my preference is to have ovaries removed at some point as I m worried about hormones trying to kick back in when I come off it!

Can I ask how old you are? I'll be 49 by the time I finish but still worried everything might try and fire back up!

Your symptoms do sound hormone related, though it could also be withdrawal from whatever else is in the drug and the dizziness and insomnia could be related to the migraines.

I hope you feel better soon!

    Hello BeattheBreast

Thanks for the reply. I found there were few women on Zoladex when I was prescribed it. Lots of men were on it though for prostate cancer. I was 46 when I started so now 51. GP is  testing hormone levels every 4 weeks for 12 weeks. If periods come back I’ll opt to get my ovaries out. It’s funny I hated those injections but I suppose you adjust. I’m just grateful I have got to this point, Hope all goes well with yours.

  • I'd be really interested to hear how your hormone levels are! My fear is going through the menopause twice. I don't think I could cope with that now everything has calmed down for me,
