Hi. I’m 2 weeks post mastectomy. 12 hrs after mastectomy operation, I had a massive bleed and had to have a second operation to remove bleed. They managed to redo the implant reconstruction. I then spent 3 days recovering in hospital on very strong antibiotics and morphine.
Got my results on Friday - grade 3 ductal invasive cancer removed but no cancer in lymph nodes. So relieved I don’t need chemo or radiotherapy. Moving over from letrozole to tamoxifen next week.
I feel relieved but still a very sore boob this weekend. Does anyone have advice about what to expect with my pain management over the next few weeks?
Hi , it's great news that they got it all out and even better that you don't need any further treatment. I didn't have a mastectomy but a friend of mine who did didn't seem to have much pain. We are all different with different pain thresholds. If you find you are in pain make sure you speak to your medical team and get some pain relief.
From the posts I've read on here I get the feeling that recovery and pain isn't too bed for most ladies, hope it's the same for you.
Wishing you all the best with the rest of your journey x
,I was told to ensure I continued with the morphine (was given Oramorph). Had a bleed like you but not so soon after. I got through a lot of Paracetamol.,
Thanks. I had to stop taking the morphine as it made me very sick. Going through lots of paracetamol and ibuprofen too!!
