had bilateral lumpectomy..16 months ago , I'm wanting reconstruction,  saw my plastic surgeons last week , said it would be a risk in having implants ( after radiotherapy) because they could collapse or go hard or deformed , asked about  lipomoddling,  ....they wasn't really giving me much in answers , felt like they was just untying me off, I had grade 2 in the right breast and grade 1 in the left breast .....right breast lumpectomy was at the side of the nipple  so half of the breast was removed which left a huge dent , on the other side left , the tumour was underneath my breast  which now that breast just hangs , the side view is awful  with a huge chunk taken out ....there totally ugly and look deformed ...

I'm so depressed over this ...my plastic surgeon did not give me no paper work nor sites to Google any thing on he said do your own research ...which I found appalling.

can anyone help me , give me information,  or point me in the right direction who to see ring speak too ...thankyou

  • Hi, I am sorry a I can't help personally as I have no experience of this, but I noticed your post had slipped to the 2nd page as the site is quite busy so my response will get it back to the top again where I hope someone with the right experience will be able to respond.   Good luck

    Hi

Sorry to hear of your experience with the Plastic Surgeon.  I've not any experience of this but feel I could help by advising you to discuss this with your BCN, in the first instance.  It certainly sounds as if the one you saw had absolutely no interest, which, I feel, was a terrible choice to refer you to.

I would hope the BCN would initiate a referal to a different Plastic Surgeon with an interest in breast surgery etc.  .

If you were to get little sympathy and understanding from discussing with the BCN, my next step would be to put in a written complaint to PALS so they can look into it.

I don't think you situation should ever happen but it probably does.  Could be that the surgeon you saw was having a bad day, tired etc. However, it still shouldn't happen, in my opinion

You're entitled to getting an acceptable result, following the surgery you've had, so please keep pushing.  This issue is important as us females need to be OK about our appearance, especially in these situations.

Go for it.  I'm sure  you'll get there, hopefully without too much hassle.  We'll be behind you all the way  Slight smile
