Hi guys hope you are all doing well and fighting the fight
I have finished chemo and radiotherapy end of May this year and apart from the aches and pains in my body and extreme tiredness I'm doing ok?
Over the last 2 weeks thought the arm which i was given chemo in and had so many cannula's I lost count has started to give me really bad pins and needles the pain is unbearable and its worse at night sometimes it can last for 2- 3 hours, I.ve noticed it gets worse if I try and do something in the day using my right hand (I tried to pain a wall) but that night the pain was really bad. In the day I can suddenly get numbness in my finger tips (only on right hand) up to 5 times a day and if I stretch my arm out I can feel where I had one bad needle which resulted in a haematoma, spoke to my GP !!!! who prescribed Amitriptyline which is supposed to be helpful to the nerves but its not helping I know if I ring him back he wont have any idea so was wondering if anyone else had had this and its just a symptom of the treatment that will go away with time.
Thanks for reading
Hi doggie love, sorry you are having this problem. They could have twanged a nerve when they caused the jaw to a, or it could be coming from your neck. Could you ring the onco team, or have they discharged you. Either way you need more help to sort it out. Sending hugs xx
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Hi,
it’s still (fairly) early days for you and it sounds as if that arm has really been through the wringer?! I wonder if it might be worth asking your BCN about it, as they are tremendously helpful about all the follow on problems their patients get. It might be that you’ve a bit of a problem with the nerves which could be a result of chemo, radiotherapy or even just a ‘crick in your neck’?
I see you’ve also had a reply from seaspirit44
hugs xxx
Moomy
Thanks lovely Onco discharged me strange you should mention neck I've had neck pain also but thought that was me just worrying. I'll have a look at my paperwork to see if there is a number to call
Stay safe lovely and thanks
Thanks Moomy I'm going to look at my paperwork to get a number unfortunately my GP has no ideas but the neck also comes into it but thought it was just me This arm had so many needles especially with the chemo the veins did not like it - Thanks again and stay safe
If it is unbearable and it has come on suddenly it may have nothing to do with your chemo the gp should explore other causes you mention neck pain one cause could be a disc problem which would cause pain, numbness in arm , he should look for the differential diagnosis’s, thrombosis in deep arm vein etc don’t leave it
Thanks I have to call him to let him know how it’s going so will grill him then
