Hi All,
I was windering if you can share your experience of node clearnce surgery with me. I had a mastwctomy 5 weeks ago and booked for node clearance next week. Mastectomy wasn't bad at all. I had some stiffness in my arm but I could use it to do my personal things and after taking out drain, I started cooking and light housework. Can you please tell me if you were able to use your arm after node removal? How bad it was and if you could use your affected arm to do your personal things. Thanks xx
Hi Raf44, I had node clearance 3 weeks ago. Like you, I found mastectomy fine, but so far I’ve found the node clearance even easier. I didn’t need painkillers after the op. There is nothing I couldn’t do with my arm - in fact I have had to keep reminding myself that I’d had an operation and shouldn’t be lifting heavy stuff, because it felt pretty normal. After a couple of weeks I developed mild cording from my armpit down to my forearm, but I kept doing my exercises and now only really notice it when I stretch my arm very high. I appreciate everyone’s experience is different but - so far at least - it hasn’t been a problem for me at all.
