I just can't sleep, up now and sat with a cuppa

  • What stage of treatment are you at?

I couldn't sleep during chemo, and then I needed the night sweats to calm down after going into sudden menopause before I could sleep again, but now everything is much more manageable and I only wake up 3-5 times a night with the night sweats and can mostly get back to sleep once they have calmed, though there is usually one a night where I stay awake for an hour or so and I just stay in bed and rest!

Not sleeping can be such a vicious circle - do you do all the 'sleep hygiene' recommendations?

Sorry for jumping in here, but what is sleep hygiene, I’m also struggling to sleep…

Sorry, forget that, I just noticed I’m on a breast cancer forum, sorry to bother you but this is not what I have, sorry.

Hi I've just had my 4th session of chemo I have 6 all together then surgery then radiotherapy. I just feel totally wiped out but can't sleep. I.just tend to cat nap and I'm awake several times in the night. I've been through the menopause in the past so don't have the night sweats. My problem with the chemo side effects is its really affecting my legs and can't stay on my feet for to long as my legs go like lead weights and really weak. I suffer with anxiety too so that doesn't help with the sleeping part. I'm currently on docetaxel and carboplatin for the chemo which is really affecting me and my oncologist had to reduce my dose. I also have 2 targeted treatments along with the chemo.. never heard of sleep hygeine what is it. Xx
