Hair growing back during docetaxel.

Hair on my head and legs appears to be growing back during docetaxel ( 2 down 2 to go) I started with two EC which was very effective at getting it out and was weirdly comforted that if I had no hair then it was doing its job. I have fine hair at the best of times so hadn't expected any hair growth until the 6 cycles were complete. Also receiving pertuzamab and trastuzamab. Anyone else experienced this? I hadn't anticipated shaving my legs for at least six months! Thanks

  • I had 2 EC with scalp cooling which only partially worked so I stopped it and got a grade 2. I haven't much new hair, but the hair that never fell out has been growing ever since, through EC3. It's stripy, too - brown, white, brown, white, brown. So weird. I've just had my first cycle of T with Herceptin. Those cause hair-fall too, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Yay for reaching your half-way mark. Thumbsup

  • Hello lottiejam

I had exactly the same. I had 3 fec then 4 docetaxel with pertuzamab and trastuzumab and indeed my hair started to grow back. I asked my oncologist and he said it wasn't unusual.  Hope that helps

  • Thanks @Charlieandlola that's good to know, thank you for taking the time to reply, appreciated Slight smile

  • Hi thanks for your response, my hair doesn't quite look how it looked before either, I am grey and wiry, previously brown. I think I would quite like the stripes. I hope you are doing ok with the treatment. It's amazing how quickly you adjust to being treated and then it seems to pass quicker. It feels doable! Thanks for taking the time to reply.

  • Hi Lottiejam, sorry I should have been clearer - it's actually each hair that is striped, not the general effect. It's the strangest thing. But it's definitely growing. My husband keeps remarking on it!
