Hi
I have just had mammoplastery and axlllary node clearance the nodes came back as just 1 affected but the area they removed was larger than expected 53mm it’s lobular so I have now been referred for chemo . Originally I was told lumpectomy and radiotherapy so I am so upset . I had BC 14 yrs ago and only had 1 cycle then as it was a very small lump and no lymph node involvement but I was so ill on just one I’m dreading it . I was wondering if anyone on here has experienced the same and opted not to have chemo , I have not had my app yet to discuss it all just to add
Hi Missy60. I've just dropped by and noticed you've not yet had a reply as yet from any of the members here. As this is an extremely busy group by me answering it'll bump your query up to the top of the listings so hopefully you'll get some advice. I'm sorry I can't help as I've not had chemotherapy. (I've a different type of cancer and had Brachytherapy)
I'm sorry to read you've been referred for chemo again. It's some years since you last received it and I've read there are very effective anti-sickness drugs and people are better able to tolerate than in years past.
Sending you all the best, B xx

Hi Missy60,
Hiya I had lobular bc (also 53mm!) nearly 5 years ago but I had lots of lymph nodes involved so pretty much chemo was a done deal for me, especially as I was 43. However the point that I would like to make is that things have changed a lot in the past 14 years and there are now lots more options to help you eg newer medications for side effects, new chemo regimes etc. I don’t often come on here anymore but I do pop on every now and again and I have seen people having drugs/treatments that were not available to me 5 years ago!!! So if you do decide to go ahead, it might not be as bad as it was before.
Cwtches,
