Hi, had my first treatment a week ago. I've had so many awful side effects- diarrhoea, thrush, back pain, mouth ulcers, UTI. I've been back in hospital twice. I become incontinent and my nose keeps bleeding. I can't stop crying. I've got to get through at least five but possibly seven more treatments and I don't know how. I feel like I'm falling apart physically and mentally. It's just so hard.
Boiled sweets for the throat speak to your team and get flucanazole for thrush don't suffer in silence hun. X
You should be able to get something for most of those side effects, As Julesgod54 said, don't suffer. Call your BCN or GP and they should be able to give you meds to counteract your side effects.
Your oncologist may decide to reduce your dosage next time if you have been really suffering. They did that for me after my first dose of docetaxel as I really struggled with it, and it was much more tolerable for the next cycles.
Hi Gez60, how are you today? Did you speak to your oncologist or cancer team to get some support for the side effects? I hope so and I hope they are easing and you are feeling a little better.
I feel a bit better this morning. I've been given some meds for the thrush and the bowel problem so hopefully that will calm down. I've got an appointment with the oncologist in about 10 days to discuss things and as of last evening I've been referred for some counselling. It's been a truly horrible week. I just hope I can start to pull up over the next couple of days.
Aw Gez this sounds awful. Definitely discuss reducing your dose if you can. I’ve had my dose reduced on Docetaxel rounds after an awful time and it has really helped. Still side effects but manageable. I hope you start to feel better soon, but do keep calling for help if you need it, they don’t want you to suffer.
Hugs, Ruby xx
I had my first treatment 6 days ago, had diarrhoea since day 3 and feeling tired all the time. All I seem to do is sleep. Lost sense of taste and can’t even enjoy my usual cup of tea. Trying to drink lots of water to stay hydrated and taking everything easy but feel a bit spaced out
Exactly the same with loss of taste and can't drink tea either.
