Hi there

I introduced myself earlier today. I'm MIz Melly and I've been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer which has taken up residence in my brain, liver and spine.

I had 5 sessions of whole brain radiotherapy. I'm on steroids to reduce the swelling of my brain tumour.

Ive kept my hair in a short style since my last cancer 18 months ago when I went completely bald and then it grew back in really well.

Now my hair is just falling off my head, the steroids have me all puffy faced and I'm struggling a bit with how I look.

I don't know whether to shave my head again - my kids really don't want me to - but it at least felt like I had some control over it last time.

My question for anyone who's had this is whether the hair falls out completely and if it ever grows back again after whole brain radiotherapy. I have a funky red wig that I chose the last time which I hardly wore. I've given all my little caps away to my cousin who's going through ti all now and to be honest I don't want to wear caps because it just SCREAMS cancer.

And can anyone recommend the best wig brand?

Thanks in advance

Melly

  • Hi Miz Melly welcome to the forum and sorry that you have not had a response as yet.  I get what you are saying about your kids maybe not wanting you to shave your hair but it also sounds like doing that gave you control and that's exactly what you need is to feel in control.

The sound of that red wig rocks and it also sounds like it gives you some sense of control about how you look and want to feel so I say red all the way.
