I have been told by non medical person that you cannot use some make ups during chemo as these leech into the skin - can anyone advise of correct info
Hi SamB2 welcome to the forum. Having Chemo does affect the look and feel and general overall health of your skin and hair and as such the info you have is partly correct.
Im assuming that you are having chemo at this time, is that the case? If so I would ask the same question to the chemo nurse as they may be better able to advise or you could call the Macmillan Line on 08088080000 and maybe one of the Nurses there may be able to advise what to use and what to avoid.
Check this out, it’s a list of hair care, skin care and make-up products that are safe to use during the various stages of treatment;
Good luck with your treatment xx
I wasn't advised against any make up though I didn't see anyone or feel like wearing any when going through chemo so not an issue! I work from home so it was fine to look awful!
The only thing I wanted to mention was that your skin is one of the things chemo really affects so I only used very sensitive shower washes etc and I used natural, organic moisturisers with absolutely nothing horrible in them, just pure natural ingredients. I found my skin needed that as it was dry.
I think if you're gong to wear make up then make sure it's really nice on your skin and full of stuff that is good for it. A bit more expensive, but better than having a reaction.
