I’m now 6 months post surgery for lumpectomy and on Letrozole. I think my “offending” boob is getting bigger. Anyone else noticed this?

  • Dear

I think you know what I’m about to say - please please call your breast care nurses - all changes should be enquired about . Your GP will help you too.

So my dear pick up the phone and call someone .

  • Hi , I’d echo , definitely get it checked out. My ‘offending’ boob is also bigger than the other. I pointed it out when I had my post rads oncology follow up (don’t know if they do them these days). It was 6 months post op and 10 weeks post radiotherapy. They agreed it was bigger, and gave me antibiotics in case it was an infection and a referral to the lympheodema service. The lympheodema nurse confirmed that it was lympheodema, probably from the radiotherapy. It’s a side effect that isn’t often mentioned and I don’t think it’s that common. I was advised re better bras (mine were not supportive enough apparently) and told to take up Nordic walking or swimming/aquarobics - I’m still Nordic walking and love it. Anyway I’m jumping ahead, yours may be quite different but definitely get on to the breast clinic. You can self refer indefinitely I think, certainly I’ve seen them in between annual mammograms for various issues even though I’m now 2 and a half years post op.
Wishing you well, let us know how you get on. Love and hugs, HFxx

  • Thanks Ruby Rose, I’ll call my BCN.

  • Thanks HappyFeet1. I’m going to call my BCN. Most of my follow up appointments have been over the phone because of Covid but I know they’ll see me if I’m concerned. Will let you know x

  • Spoken to hospital. They tell me it sounds like chest wall inflammation. If I’m still concerned they will see me but that’s difficult with restrictions etc. I feel happier but will see how I go. TFingers crossed tone3it’s unlikely to be lympheodema as I only had 3 nodes removed and not total clearance. Fingers crossed tone3Fingers crossed tone3Fingers crossed tone3
