Cancer recurrence

Morning all,

I hope you don't mind me asking this.

I keep seeing posts where ladies (I haven't seen any from men but I'm not excluding them from my query) are having treatment for breast cancer for the second and even third time. I can't imagine how horrific that must be for these ladies.

I have just 'finished' treatment for primary breast cancer. I'm still having herceptin injections 3 weekly and have been prescribed anastrozole and ibandronic acid. I have only been on these drugs for about one month but the side effects have been horrible and I am thinking of stopping taking them.

My question is were any of you put on these drugs and still got cancer a second time, or did any of you refuse the drugs and get it again?

Sorry if my post sounds insensitive.

  • Hi Julie and a very warm welcome to the online community

Although I don't have the experience you're looking for I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. This is possibly because this is such an active group that your post has slipped off the first page before someone who can help has seen it. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.

While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far in your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
