Hi everyone, I have an 18 week pup. My husband took the pup for his jabs several weeks ago but they would not give him the kennel cough vaccine as it is a live vaccine and I was still on chemo. I have finished chemo now and wondering if anyone knows how long I should wait before taking him back for the jab.

Thank you

  • Wow, I wouldn’t have even thought of that! Good job your vets are on the ball. I finish chemo in July and my dog will be due her boosters in Sept so I’d be keen to know about others experience.

    Congrats on finishing chemo!

Hi Nardine, Spoke to my vet today who just said there was no rush for the kennel cough until we actually planned on putting him kennels or with a large group of other dogs such as puppy classes. That probably won't happen for a while anyway, She did say it's usually a few weeks after chemo finishes though but best to check with your own vet when her boosters are due.

My poor pup was in vet hospital last night as he had pulled a ceramic pot on him and cut his leg, he now has stitches and the cone of shame. He'll be alright though thankfully.

    Take care

  • Thanks Karen, that’s good to know! Hope your pup recovers well and behaves with the cone of shame Smile
