Hi . Does anyone have any good news of smashing the triple negative breast cancer .. ? Weekly chemo of which started last week. Praying it works . x
I had TNBC in 2015. I had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiotherapy and at my last mammogram Dec 2020, all was still clear. So yes, my surgeon is fairly happy it won't come back and I've ' smashed' that one....although I have to have an annual mammogram for the rest of my life and he warned to be vigilant as sometimes a different cancer might appear once you've had it once.
In addition, I have a friend who was diagnosed with TNBC exactly one year after me. She will get to her five years in October and she is fine. Her treatment was different to mine. She had chemo first which shrank the tumour so well her planned mastectomy became a lumpectomy.
I hope all goes well for you. Try not to panic about the TNBC.....whilst inevitably there will be some who develop secondary symptoms.....many of us respond to the treatment and survive with modern treatments.
Love Karen
