Hello
I was diagnosed in jan 2019 with breast cancer and had part of my left breast removed and reduction on my right breast I also had 12 nymph nodes removed of which 7 were cancerous, I had chemo and radiotherypy.
I'm now on a hormone tablet and research tablet.
I still dont have alot of energy and my hair has not grown back much.. I have not gone back to work yet
Has anyone got any advise or feel like this aswell
Regards
Lucky 3
Hi Lucky3 welcome to the forum. I imagine that that treatment took a long time to complete with both Chemo and Radiotherapy. When did that all finish? I think that we all respond differently and there doesn't seem to be any time-frame for a return to our everyday activities.
Is it worth a trip to the GP to check out your bloods and make sure thta you are maybe not anaemic as an example which could contribute to the feelings of tiredness?. Hair growing back can also take some time and often comes back very different to how it previously looked as well.
Hi
I too was diagnosed 2019 in July. I had lumpectomy /full node clearance followed by chemo then another margins op then radiotherapy. I went back to work at start of rads. I have to say its the best thing I did, yes its very tiring, I am Nurse but it helped me keep moving forward. Even now I am wiped out some days and I ache +++ on letrozole. I think I need to be busy and on the go to help with mental health side of it all. My hair is growing back slowly and I still wear a wig sometimes. You have to do what you feel is right for you but if you are worried ask GP . I think fatigue can last a long time xxx
Hi Granny 59
Thank you for replying my treatment finished in October 2019
Hi lucky3, sorry you’re suffering ongoing fatigue, I’ve found that to be the worst side effect of Anastrozole which I’m also on. The aches and pains I find manageable and are better with exercise - walking has been my sanity saver! Glad that your employers are good, definitely pace yourself and hopefully you can have a phased return? And as someone has mentioned, worth having bloods done to check it’s nothing else contributing to the tiredness. My GP did this but everything was normal so I’ve just had to accept that it’s the price to pay for hopefully keeping the beast at bay! Luckily I was able to retire last summer which was an unbelievable relief but obviously that wouldn’t suit or be possible for everyone. Good luck with the return to work and do make sure you start back slowly. Love and hugs, HFxx
