Well I'm a few days before my second session, woke up with a tender scalp, my hair on one side was stood on end (already had a short pixie cut) hair felt weird. Had my shower and on washing my hair it came away by the hand full, must say I was not expecting it to happen like that.
It looks like I've had a thin razor cut at the moment, oh with a nice little wave on top.
My reaction after being surprised, well I knew it was going to happen, my husband keeps asking if in ok with it, I told him hard cheese if I'm not.
But as I was prepared (you ladies on here a big help) I feel fine, was never very vain about my hair, just hope it comes back when it's over, if not we will cope with that when the time comes.
I was prepared, but still surprised me.
I've been looking at all the weird and wonderful head gear that's on offer, I've decided to be eccentric about it, you know people asking what in heaven is she wearing.
One of my friends went for the wig, no one who did not know seen anything different.
I know you cant beat your own hair, but it's only for months, not the rest of your extended life, try and go with the flow.
I'm looking at bright and very loud scarves, a great big floppy soft straw hats etc. I'm going to have some fun with it.
Hi Dizliz
I went into first lockdown with a buzz cut after finishes chemo in Dec 2019 came out in the July needing a hair cut . Like you I'd decided on pixie before losing hair loved it so kept it short whilst hair grew stronger and thicker .So had it cut every 4 weeks til next lockdown been cut once since hairdresser reopened and have to say , She didn't take enough off .
Never thought I'd say that
Yes it can be upsetting but also liberating . I only wore wig once or twice some great headgear online have fun !
Best wishes for the rest of your treatment
I thought myself to be lucky as i didn't have to shave my off until week 5 I washed my hair and it just came out in handfuls I was moulting more than the dog during weeks 3 and 4 but it was still a good coverage so I put it off and put it off but I wrapped my head in my turban that I used and it got tangled so I managed to get bit out of the turban and it was a big knot so I thought right this it girl and I got the flippers and off it came it was weird at first but once I done it it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders who wasn't my hair by the way i now love wearing caps and scalves and ive even made some from old t-shirts its still coming out but not as noticeable as before onky 6 more paclitaxel to go now so I'm looking forward to see how my hair will grow back however long it takes it was always thin so maybe it will come back curly we shall see take care all lots of love Belinda xx
Hi Beenea69
It was about eight weeks before I got slight loss but hardly touch it once pixie cut done . No 2 shave just before last EC .I was on EC x6 and was told I would like it in days hair must be as stubborn as I am
Hair came back my own colour gunmetal grey and chemo curly as it has grown it's now more of a wave but very thick
I've always had thick hair but it had started to thin with age now back thick .
I expected to be quite emotional when my lovely hairdresser popped round to shave my head. It was coming out in bunches and I wanted to take control. Actually I felt very ok, very pragmatic, it is what it is. Hubby was more upset than me, guess it's a visible sign.
And i must say, I absolutely love my wig. I've gone for a slightly longer style, switched to blond and I feel fantastic. It's really comfy and I can wear it for 8-10 hours no problem.
