I have recently been diagnosed with DCIS and would like to know of any other experience with this. I know that I will need surgery but not sure yet to what extent I have had 2 biopsies and should have the results next week.
Thanks
Hi Alfie
I have a DCIS diagnosis following two biopsies. I had a wide local excision to remove it on 6 April. Currently recovering from the surgery and doing ok. Next step for me is finding out what the pathology on the removed tissue is and take it from there. The waiting on the results is the tough part of it. Sending you a big hug xx
I had DCIS in 2015. Two areas were biopsied ( think 6 samples from each area ). The 10mm area was originally diagnosed as intermediate grade DCIS and the 5mm area was benign. I had surgery to remove (day surgery, small 1" incision on top of left breast which you'd never notice). After surgery it was revised to high grade 11mm. I had15 sessions of radiotherapy (was norm then but think they do 5 higher intensity instead now. This was followed by annual mammograms (read my profile by clicking in my name ). I had my 5 year sign off do back to 3 year now. Not sure I'm comfortable with 3 year interval .
Thank you for that, it’s good to hear from someone in a similar situation. Good luck with your results.
Wishing you all the best as i know very wel whats its to wait for pathology report . I had my surgery on 10 th of March and npw waiting for my chemo on 23 th April. Millions hugs xx
Hi Grogg
I had my results from my biopsies today it’s DCIS 3 cms and high grade so I will need a ‘wide local excision’. I’m relieved to hear that I don’t need a mastectomy! They will ring me at the end of the week with the date I’m due to have the surgery but it should be fairly soon. Followed be radiotherapy sometime later.
Hi CoffeeFiend
It sounds like you are just a bit ahead of me, I had my results today it is high grade 3cms so I will need a wide local excision followed by radiotherapy. Waiting for the date to have surgery but should hear by the end of the week.
I hope your recovery is going well take care and thanks for your reply.
Hope your surgery date is soon. I am finding it manageable so far. Xx
