Hi
has anyone ever got a uti on chemo. Mine started 4 weeks ago after my last EC, it’s stings to pee and also it feels like someone is pushing on my bladder. I was taken to hospital 3 weeks ago with dehydration and a UTI and given 3 days of antibiotics but it still never went. Fast forward to Wednesday just gone when I went in for my paclitaxel & HP and I mentioned it still hurts they said I could have cystis and chemo may not happen, they done a wee sample and PH was 9 they said which was high and that they need to speak to my oncologist who said it was ok to go ahead.
but it is aching me I am so sore and don’t know what to do I got another course of antibiotics off my doctor yesterday for 3 days. Has anyone had this too?
also I wanted to ask I see people say speak to there BCN. I don’t have One of these when we was told i had breast cancer that was it I just waited for my oncologist however my friend had a nurse who she could call and they would check up on her. I don’t have anyone who I can ring to speak to about any of this?
hope you can help me
x
Hi you poor thing, i have now had my 6th Paclitaxol (out of 12).... & i have an over active bladder (before breast cancer diagnosis). The Paclitaxol has started to affect me too in this way but you do need to drink at least 2 litres of water & decafinated tea & coffee etc. if im honrst 3 days of antibiotics is not enough... 5-7 days are needed.
it would be handy for you to keep some pee testing sticks at home. i test mine all the time if feeling cystitis like etc. you need to look for protein & any blood in your urine plus leucocytes. Your GP could be kept in the loop... you may need to keep a course of antibiotics ready in case you need them.
As for your sickness... you need to have Metachlopramide at home to take daily for nausea as you need to eat to keep strong for the Taxol. They should have given you a supply to take home.
Anymore help let me kmow
Cindy
Hey :)
they gave me Co-Amoxiclav for my UTI and it is starting to do it’s job I feel better in myself and that it doesn’t hurt as much to pee. I am definitely going to ask about having a spare box of these at home for next time I get one.
im currently in domperidone and they are helping with my sickness, I seem to be a different person after this treatment especially with this 3 week UTI I have had. I have a bit of a headache today but that’s normal so I’m going for a lay down.
I have my scan on my breast Tuesday to see the progress from chemo I am hoping it has strunk it definitely feels like it has.
I hope it does for you and doesn’t come back. I was back and forth for 3 weeks with my UTI they said it was and then it wasn’t and that I did have high PH level then I never and then finally on Tuesday we had a good doctor who diagnosed me with a UTI and gave me meds which has really helped.
