Hi All,

I have had my first dose of Chemo, EC, 2 weeks ago. I have noticed a bit of coughing since a few days ago. Just wondered anyoneelse has has this side effect? It looks like some sort of alergy cough. When exercise, it doesn't get worse.

  • Hi at

Having not had chemotherapy I can't help with your question about whether your cough is a side effect or not. However, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. This is probably because this group is very active and your post may have slipped off the first page before the person whose experience you need has seen it. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussions page.

You may also want to post your question in this month's chemotherapy thread and, if this is something that you'd like to do, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight to it.

Hi Raf44 - I got a really runny nose while on chemo and I found antihistamines helped. It felt very like allergies too so perhaps it’s the same for you? Definitely have a chat to your team about it because they will be able to help xx

I've had a bit of cough and sore throat feel like I've got bit of cystitis now, had to go for kidney scan last night from previous one I missed had to drink lots of water really wasn't up to it, so warm in the hospital. At least my flushed cheeks have calmed down a bit!

hi Raf44 i have just had second EC and noted intermittent cough, similar to what you described, think the trouble is chemo drugs mess with the lining of your mouth and windpipe, and slightest thing can irratate it, keep an eye on it and if you are concerned speak with chemo nursed there usually really good or the GP. Hope it gets better for you. x

  • Hi Joanofarc,

Thanks for your message. I have had my second EC as well and the first few days the cough was worse but it is a bit better. Although , it is still there. I will talk to my oncologist this week. Most likely is the side effects. Xx
