I was wondering if anyone’s hair has taken a long time to come through after fec-t? I’m panicking. I had very long thick hair before treatment but now it’s 9 weeks since my last chemo and I have very little growth. Is anyone else finding hair growth slower than they thought it would be? Emma
Hello,
i had my last chemo on 23 October 2020, 18 weeks ago. I now have a covering of hair all over my head but it’s probably the equivalent length of a buzz cut. It’s a slow process but I suppose we will have to be patient. Don’t forget that the chemo would still have been in your system for a few weeks after the last session. So it’s likely that your hair only started growing back about 6 weeks ago.
Have a look on YouTube. A lot of brave women have posted time line videos of their hair re-growth. It looks like it takes about 6 months before it gets to any kind of comfortable length.
We will be all set by the time lock down is over.
Best wishes. Xo
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I think Iv looked at so many things on social media if girls who’s hair seemed to grow back so so quickly and I still have a lot of random bald spots . It is such a long process, I think I have become obsessed with looking in the mirror x
I understand the obsession, I’m constantly dreaming about my hair - or lack of it!
Try not to worry about the bald spots. They will fill in eventually. XO
Your hair may surprise you...mine was fannying around for 2 months post completion of chemo doing nothing and then had a real growth spurt. This was mid lockdown 1 and it looked very 'interesting' at the end...yours is hopefully well timed for a timely visit to the hairdressers mid Apri!!
Mine was also very thick beforehand and still is, different texture though and at first quite curly, now wavy 14 months after end of chemo. But, as with all things cancer related, we can all respond differently.

Thank you for asking this question. I have just finished chemo and only have about 4 hairs left!! I didn’t shave my head, couldn’t cope with that!!! But I am now wondering what will happen next. It’s good to hear that hair grows back and now I’m prepared if it’s a bit slower than I initially planned. Can’t wait for my hair to grow back but have the wigs anyway. Thanks all xxx
