    Welcome JD11

i was diagnosed 23rd December with Grade 2 invasive ductal cancer, ER positive, HER negative, 23 mm.  I had lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy 18th January and 1 lymph node was positive.

Oncology appointment yesterday some questions regarding ? if chemo may be of benefit as I’m pre-menopausal, Oncologist liasing with other Breast Oncologists as Oncotype DX 17 and I’m 52 years old so deemed low risk recurrence. Treatment plan at moment looking like 3 weeks radiotherapy to breast and lymph nodes, Zoladex injections to suppress ovary function, Letrozole to block oestrogen and Zoledronic Acid 6 monthly infusions to strengthen bones.

The diagnosis to treatment processes are swift but your  mind will be all over the place I’m sure, this forum is an excellent place for support

Thanks so much for replying.. Your diagnosis is the same as mine

Grade 2 invasive ductal cancer, ER positive, HER negative, 22 mm. They dont think it has spread but will need to do further tests to confirm.  I have been told they will need to do lumpectomy and then radiotherapy. I'm waiting for the next appointment with the consultant with the exact plan of action

I am 45 years old, really worried about everything, especially as I have 2 young children

Of course it’s totally natural to be anxious and worried, I also have a daughter - she 14 when I was diagnosed, told her I had an early detected lump which surgeon was going to remove and I was lucky it had been picked up at early stage, just tried to reinforce the positives... even though I was totally devastated and terrified inside!!

Others will be along and I’m sure agree the waiting is the hardest time as your mind thinks all sorts of scenarios. I’m going through the motions can’t think any further than taking one day at a time for now.

You will get through the next stage and I’m sure feel a bit more reassured when a clear  treatment plan is in place, allow yourself to feel the mixed bag of emotions we all rightly deserve to feel in this situation

Thanks for the chat, it really helps speaking with people who are going through the same thing. I wish you the best, stay in touch x

  • Hi Tr06

I have just been diagnosed grade 2. I have been advised lumpectomy or masectomy. Just had a scan of my lymph nodes which showed they are healthy. Looking for some advice pls.

    Best wishes

I had the same diagnosis last week. I had an MRI on Wednesday so just waiting , presumably for the MDT to meet .

I am, in the main, fine but I do have the odd wobbly day!

  • Hi melon mash

Thank you for that. Why did they do an MRI did they say, what else did they say about your treatment plan

    Best wishes

    Hi Sharon

The MRI was done to get a better picture of position and extent of the beast!

it seems to be a standard procedure in my area.

still awaiting the results of the Her2 test. Here’s hoping it’s negative Pray

Has anyone got any advice about post operative bras??

    Jenny

  • Hi Jenny, yes all I know mine is oestrogen positive, do you know if yours is, still awaiting Her2 test,  yh that is what is being said to me about MRI, have you thought about which one you would have done, I am so undecided.  I am about couple weeks behind yourself then, seeing consultant Tuesday and mri will be organised.  What else was said in your treatment plan

    Best wishes

    hi!!

I am hormone positive  .... and friends who’ve been through it say that’s good.
    The plan is:

surgery, radiotherapy, hormone therapy and possibly chemo.
    this of course may change

it’s the waiting I find difficult!!

I’ve never done waiting well ... I find it so frustrating!!

    doh!Face palm
