Apologies for the colloquialism, but wondering if anyone on a similar treatment path to mine managed to 'dodge' radiotherapy.
I had 4.5 months chemo, resulting in considerable shrinkage, and have just had a lumpectomy after which I was told they had removed all and a clear margin. Pending lab results and node results aside, did anyone else get the all clear after chemo & lumpectomy? Or am i dreaming?!
Anytime I've asked about radiotherapy, the medics have swerved the conversation.
So, did you have the full nuclear chemo / surgery then finish? Would love to know. (I realise i am completely getting ahead of myself, but it's a nice thought.)
Thank you!
I had 7 rounds of chemo plus Herceptin/Perjeta still continuing. Mastectomy Feb 20 with ANC, complete pathological response to chemo, no tumour left at point of surgery, 3 lymph nodes empty, the rest clear. I thought I might not need radiotherapy but my surgeon still booked it for me. Said it's a belt & braces approach so I was happy enough with that. I'd done all the hard bits so might as well have radiotherapy too. The worst bit was the 45 mile round trip for 15 days!!!!
