Forgive me if this has already been addressed previously. I had a tumour removed from breast in may. I am a large breasted woman in mid 60's. Since op the breast is almost twice size of other one. Its pink, tender and lumpy. Yes orange peel. Goes white behind nipple. I have got different bras, no comfort there. its slightly better out of a bra but as i am heavy they are too low (not a good look) the heat is causing rash underneath breast which is not nice.  Not sure what to do next, any one able to help me? Oncologist has seen it, had ultra sound, nothing conclusive. I am worried also how would i detect cancer is back.

  • Hi

If your oncologist is happy with it then that's some peace of mind I guess, doesn't sound like its helping you though...can you contact your BCN regarding the 'what to look out for' and how to detect any issues?  Also I get the impression that you weren't told what has caused these new issues, I would go back and ask what is causing them and when you can expect them to go, what you can do to help resolution of the issues...think you've come away from oncologist without all the information you need to put your mind (somewhat) at rest.

Its only natural that following cancer treatment we've got heightened awareness of any changes/oddities and I would hope your support team appreciate this.

Re the heat I read somewhere (think it was post DIEP reconstruction) that a sanitary towel may help...worth a try?

    Good luck

  • May is quite a while ago now,  so it *should be selling down. Was a large are removed? Did they see a seroma? Have they checked bloods looking for an infection? Did you have radiotherapy and it's still recovering from that? I think that we're all a bit sticky at the moment, and thr phased sounds like a good idea,  but I know after my clearance last May I couldn't feel the  area rubbing ait was numb,  and the skin became quite sore. I bought a pad and taped it onto the area to protect it,  using zinc cream on the skin to help it heal.
