Hi, I’m 52 and was diagnosed Stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma which has spread to the lymph nodes, I only found a small lump on 3rd June! I’ve just had the first 2 day cycle of 4 chemotherapy drugs. Today is day 7, and I think I am doing ok. It’s hard isn’t it? You have to keep checking this is really happening. 3 months ago I was the medic and now I’m the patient.

  • Sorry you found yourself here but welcome. You are right .....it is hard but at the end there are so many successful recoveries these days , that we do have hope. I'm also pleased you feel that your chemo has gone ok this time. The side effects are so unpredictable.......what one experiences another doesn't and vice versa.

There are several threads you might find useful. There is a monthly chemo thread for others in the same position as yourself to offer one another daily( hourly?) or maybe just ask those questions which someone will also experienced and have a suggestion or answer.

There is the Awake thread which is a chatty group but there is often someone about, especially during the night. They have a serious side and will share their experiences but they also have a lot of fun so if you need to smile.....it's agood place to pop in.

My cancer was in 2015. It has been clear since my lumpectomy.  It wasn't easy......I had some difficult days from side effects but to date, it hasn't returned.

I wish you a successful recovery too.

     Take care. Stay safe.

    Love  Karen

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis but pleased you have started treatment and are doing ok.  I too found a lump in June (nearer the end of the month) and confirmed I need mastectomy but now facing long wait (end of September estimate) for surgery even though classed high priority.  Hard to understand.  I just want to get going!  Good luck with your continuing treatment and be a good patient!

  • Hi

Your age & diagnosis are similar to mine, just wanted to say it's great to hear that you think you're doing ok as that will, and no doubt is, serving you well. I agree its quite hard at times, particularly with CV19 impacting things, I was diagnosed a year ago and things were quite different then.

Be kind to yourself and reflect back how well you're doing/have done and keep up that optimism.
