I had my first round of EC 4 weeks ago, due to have the 2nd last Monday but it was cancelled as I felt really rough with constant diarrhoea which I had for 3 days. Due to have my 2nd EC next week but the diarrhoea persists. I have taken oodles of Immodium and have found that if I don’t eat anything and limit drinks to water/juice I can go for about 12 Hours without rushing to the loo. If I eat anything solid, I’m on immediate long patrol ....... Any ideas or suggestions ? The BC nurse just said take more immmodium and that she was sorry I felt so bad and that it was late for me to have this side effect .....
Hello, Kirsty99,
I finished my chemo in the middle of June. I had stomach troubles several times after rounds of docetaxel. I used Imodium, but also probiotics - Enterol and Lactibiane (I don't live in UK, so your pharmacy may have different products, just ask for quick functioning good bacteria against diarrhea). I also ate and drank very few things, which are well tolerated in this case: natural pure apple juice diluted with water, chamomile tea, rice wafers, rice porridge with some butter and salt, and blueberries. When I started taking Imodium and the probiotics as soon as the diarrhea appeared, and kept to the diet, then the troubles didn't last too long. Take care of yourself!
Hi. I had similar problems while having chemo my breast nurse advice to take codeine with imodium. Codeine worked for me.
