Morning everyone, it’s the day of my surgery and I’ve not slept I have to be there at 7:15am so I’m sat on my bed trying to get rid of these nerves I feel sick too , I’m absolutely dreading it but I know when I come round my cancer will be gone , I’m not looking forward to having pain or not being able to do things myself , I’ve kept myself busy over the past week but as soon as teatime arrived everyday I felt that panic set in because it was another day over another day closer to my op day , well I’m going to get dressed and ready , I want to thank the lovely ladies that have spoken to me over the past two weeks , I never thought this would happen to me and at first it felt it wasn’t me it was someone else that had it , lots of love Edwina

I was so scared before my op too, but the nurses are lovely, and you will feel fine the minute you are at the hospital. When you wake up you will feel huge relief that it's gone!!! Then you just get on with healing... so no more worrying (which is a relief too). You will be fine, they do this every day!! Xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Good morning ....

I was going to message you to say I hope all goes well today. I hadn't forgotten.

I am sure it will be much easier than you are anticipating but I'm glad you have to check in early because it sounds as if you might be early the lists. In which case I expect you will be home by tea time.

I expect someone has already told you but if have something front buttoning to wear it will be much easier to get dressed later.

I don't remember much pain on the op day but I always find that if I take some paracetamol before I feel pain for 48 hours or so, it helps with the stiffness as the muscle bruising develops and wounds begin to heal.

Let us know how you are later. Dare I say it......try not to worry too much. Afterwards you will wonder why you did worry so much but it's  that old quality.....the unknown....terrifying you at the moment and I understand exactly how and why you feel as you do.

    Cyber hugs.....

    L9ve Karen

  • Hello ,

It may be by now that you have already had your operation but if not it will soon be done I am sure. The  nursing staff will see you through all the post op recovery and then you can look forward to returning home. Like I too took paracetemol for about 48 hours and had no pain but felt it helped with the bruising etc. Take it easy and be kind to yourself -your cancer is now a thing of the past -just the belt and braces treatments to sort out now. Please continue to keep in touch with this site as I'm sure it will help to know that you are not alone, from one  of many who have been there and bought the t shirt !! Sending gentle hugs xxKwissy

    Hi Ed48,

Glad to hear you got through your operation and I’m sure the pain and sickness will ease soon. I’m in isolation for two weeks before my mastectomy and abdominal reconstruction. It is starting to feel real now, before I felt like it was happening to someone else. Please let me know how your recovery goes.

Yes I was two weeks isolated too I felt like I was watching someone else having it happen to them and not me , it’s like a whirlwind of appointments , I’m in a lot of pain but I’m sure it will ease soon good luck with your surgery think positive take care xx

  • Hi , I hope by now that you are feeling better and that the pain is settling. Are you taking prescibed pain killers.I was given strong ones to take post operatively but did not need to take them only paracetemol. If you were prescibed stronger ones I would try with them as prescibed and if you are still in pain contact your team or GP. No point being in pain and not treating it when you could have relief- no medals for suffering unecessarily! Take care of yourself ,sending gentle hugs xx
