Hi I’m new to the forum. I was diagnosed in 2019 with stage 2b grade 3, 2 lymph nodes positive Out of 19. I had surgery, chemo & radio in that order. I have recently had blood tests which have shown an elevated ALP, all other blood tests are normal. Has anyone else experienced this increase? My biggest fear is the cancer returning. Any advice, etc would be really appreciated xx
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm afraid I can't answer your question about raised ALP but I noticed that your post hadn't had any response yet. By replying to you it will 'bump' it back to the top of the page where it'll stand more chance of being seen.
It's perfectly normal to worry that any change might mean that your cancer has returned so I can understand why you want to see if anyone else has experienced this. Have you spoken to your BCN to ask her what this change could mean?
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi
Sorry to see your question slipped off the activity page and got missed :-/
A higher ALP figure can be caused by many issues, so don't read too much into this until you get further information - I assume they are looking into this and arranging a scan of some sort, more specific blood test etc ?
Although post cancer the first thing that can be a worry is bone or liver hot spots, but this is just as easily flagged up by osteoporosis or low vitamin D.
Are you taking any Aromatase Inhibitors like Letrozole or Anastrozole, or any meds to build up calcium etc ?
Fingers crossed this is a minor blip, G n' J
Thank you for replying, yes I’m on letrozole and I take ad-cal. All my other bloods have come back normal. I’m waiting to hear from my oncologist as to wether or not I’m getting any scans.
Hi
That may be the reason for too much calcium then ?
J was on Adcal and Alendronic Acid also had this raised level and had her Adcal dose halved from twice a day to once.
Hopefully this is the same scenario

That’s interesting & reassuring thank you! It’s very easy to become stressed by every little result!
