    HI,

I had my first dose a fortnight ago.It totally wiped me out the next day, with lovely restful sleep virtually all day, which hadn't been happening with the Letrozole insomnia! Now back to mostly normal sleeping too, apart from odd hot sweat night. That and weird yawning directly after the infusion for about half an hour were my only symptoms.

It not only strengthens your bones, people on this drug and had had cancer were found incidentally to have less recurrence of metastasis and other benefits.

Old Drug, New Tricks: Bisphosphonates May Benefit Patients With Breast Cancer on www.Curetoday.com is an interesting article.

      Stay safe,

  • Yes - I am one year into this.  It's fine - it can make you quite tired or achy but overall it is fine.   I have learnt to build int some recovery time.   I had my Zometa yesterday - spent 3 hours to get an IV into my veins (they are very evasive these days my veins) and went to bed at 11 last night and woke up at 0930...  so rather than fight it - I realise my body needs the rest.  I hope this helps..

  • Thankyou so much for that information, it helps a lot. I’m due to start in August, as I have to have dental checks done first.
    much appreciated.

  • Hi

I had my first zometa 1st July and similar to previous lady felt pants the day after but got steadily better and was right as rain 3/4 days after infusion. Not sure it was the zometa or a change in letrozole but have had less aches & pains ever since. So crack on I say!

Hi , I’m pitching in from the dental aspect - regardless of whether you’re dentally fit or not, ask if you can see your dental hygienist for some preventive advice to ensure you are able to maintain optimum oral hygiene to prevent any future problems. Bisphosphonates have fabulous benefits but one of their down sides is that they reduce blood supply to the jaw bone, which can lead to complications if you need to have teeth extracted in the future. Xx

    Hi,

You should also be aware that there is a very small side effect of osteonecrosis of the external auditory canal.Report any change in ear problems highlighting your medication, especially if going to a gp.This also includes any ear infections.www,gov.uk has more information.
