Well. Its finally here ... The eve of my first chemo , im worried... Yet chemo should be my best friend for the next few months ... We both intend to kick cancers arse into oblivion !
Im havin 6 cycles of fec-t.
Had a wig consultation on tuesday, in preparation of losing hair, was nervous but now looking forward to choosing one of the few we have ordered.
Im cold capping for first one to see if i can do it.
Any advice on what i should take ? Ive got sweets, puzzle books , bought my baby shampoo in for future use and a thermometer to take temp every day.
Ginger nuts are on the shopping list ... Is lucozade ok to have when i need a boost ?
Hope everyones as well as they can be .
Another day nearer the end of my treatment ...
Hello Elvisgirl123
I've finished my chemo and I had fec_t as well. I took water and some boiled sweets to suck. You wont be there long as it only took an hour to put the fec part in. You could take a magazine but I found once lockdown started I chatted to other patients as not allowed to take anyone in with you.
Good luck and I'm here if you want to ask any questions regarding fec_t
Love julie x
Hi
I finished the FEC-T regime, 3 weeks ago today! I too tried the cold cap and managed it without a problem! I only had two attempts with it as my hair went too thin on top so it wasnt worth the risk of damaging my follicles or burning my scalp! It's so worth giving it a go! The first time I used the cold cap another lady was having the same treatment and had used the cold cap for every treatment and still kept a lovely head of hair, so it's really worth giving it a go!
I used take take water In with me and a little bit of fruit! The unit I went to offered sandwiches and a never ending supply of tea and coffee and biscuits!
I sat in the unit and enjoyed chatting to some of the other patients in there, we shared stories of how we ended up in the unit, we had tears but also lots of laughs too! I met an amazing, inspirational 84 year old woman! Her encouragement was fantastic!
I have just had a radiology planning appointment yesterday! The next stage in the journey! I'm haviing treatment over 5 days instead of 15!
Hope everything goes well for you ! If you have any questions about FEC-T I'm happy to help!
Onwards and upwards!
Take care x
Hello Mella32
Did they offer you the 5 treatments? I'm due to start radiotherapy next week to my left breast. I'm assuming its 15 sessions but would prefer 5.

Hi Julie,
I was originally due to have the 15 sessions! I believe the hospital where I'm being treated had been trialling the treatment over 5 days!
I'm too have treatment to my left breast! At the planning session I was informed that the fatigue will be quite bad due to the intensity of having the treatment over 5 days ! I agreed to have it as I have to travel to get to the hospital so it does make it easier!
What a journey we are all on! My oncologist informed me that this will be a walk in the park compared to Chemotherapy! I only finished chemo 3 weeks today so am still battling hot flushes, a few aches and fatigue plus the emotions for me are sometimes overwhelming ! The oncologist actually asked how my emotions were before I had chance to ask ! Apparently as she put it "I've messed with your ovaries and therefore hormones!
Hope you are well..Melanie x
Thinking of you today Elvisgirl. I had my first FEC on Tuesday so day 4 today. It’s a roller coaster to be sure. I was surprised how quick it was. I was home two hours after arriving! Now I am learning to grab the good spells to eat wash and do jobs then collapse when the weirdness starts. Fuzzy head nausea and hot flushes but no fever. Don’t want any sensory input. Husband is giving the Filigrastim injections - my hero! Hope you got through today okay and coped with all those syringes!
Kate
Hi
I’ve just finished my FEC over a week ago feeling not to bad I find the main problem is the rollercoaster of emotions. Due to start my radiotherapy Aug 13th. Getting the x5 treatment asked my oncologist that am I getting the maximum treatment she said yes which was a relief. Good luck everyone xxx
Thank you everyone !
Pleased to say all went well.
Cold cap was ok after a while ...
Nurse tripped as she was setting it up and nearly pulled my drip wire out !! She was in a worse state than me lol !!
Went a bit fuzzy headed during the c part but was fine.
Had the obligatory rose wee !!
Have a bit of a headache , but thats all.
Had a doze on the chair yesterday evening ...
My grandaughter said i was like mrs brown , sprawled on the chair snoring
Hi
Pleased to hear everything went okay!

Take care
