There are two I've used. Nivea do a Matt sunscreen factor 50 that's excellent. However "It" cosmetics available from QVC do a foundation that's factor 50. It's expensive but no more than some foundations. I liked it but the nicest with my normal foundation is better value.

The great thing about buying cosmetics from Qvc is, if it's not right or causes a problem even if you've tried it a few times, you can send it back and get a full refund apart from p&p.

    Hope that helps.

  • I've used Boots suncreams in the past as a moisturiser with make up on top. The face one is nice and light, and doesn't affect by really sensitive skin (I have to wash with Johnson's Top to Toe!)

  • Hello I have always had really sensitive skin and suffer from eczema so have to be very careful about make up but I have found Bare Minerals products really good. They stock tinted moisturisers and foundations which already contain spf factor 30. I don't use foundation myself but I do use Boots Soltan sunblock as it does not contain Lanolin which is the thing in make up which triggers my eczema. I do not eat a vegan diet but I do use vegan make up as it doesn't irritate my skin. Next have started to stock Bare minerals products and larger Boots stores & Debenhams are also stockists. Hope this helps

  • Just as a follow up to my other post; I hope you don't mind me asking about the rash on your face but as a life long sufferer from eczema I can empathise. I had eczema on my face a few years ago which was caused by an allergic reaction to make up and creams which contain lanolin: including E45 and Clinique. I now no longer have a rash as I had a patch test done at the dermatology department in hospital and they found out what was causing it. Once I stopped using those products the eczema cleared up but my skin was very dry so they advised me to wash with aqueous cream instead of soap and use a moisturiser every day. I use doublebase which you can buy from the chemists. The point I am trying to make is to treat the rash and prevent your skin from drying out and make sure the make up and creams you are using don't irritate the rash more. Obviously all rashes are different and everyone's skin is different but I thought this might help. I hope you don't mind me joining this conversation.

  • thank you for your information. Before I was diagnosed with bc I was under the doctor for adult acne they gave me antibiotics to take all the time that worked, my skin cleared up, but when I started chemotherapy I came out in a terrible rash on my face and the nurses gave me tablets and cream which helps it alot but its still red on my cheeks that I would like to cover with make up. It would be good to see a professional about it though, maybe I can ask to see a dermatologist after chemo if it doesn't get better.  Thank you to everyone else as well. Xx

  • Hi Deb thank you for your reply. I hope I helped you. I think it is a good idea to talk to your doctors and nurses about it and also to seek help from a dermatologist if necessary. I can only speak from my personal experience of eczema but there are many different kinds of skin problems and I am not an expert. What I do understand is how self conscious you can feel when you have a rash on your face and people stare at you or do a double take. I understand why you want to cover your rash but as I said sometimes my attempts to cure my rash made it worse. It's a shame we live in a society which is so obsessed with appearances. My real friends don't care what I look like and love me for who I am!  I do find however that being able to wear make up so I look less tired & ancient does cheer me up. When I was younger I never bothered with make up but now I'm in my 50s I find it makes me feel better. I'm seriously considering giving up with dyeing my hair though.  The lockdown has meant me buying excessive amounts of l'oreal magic retouch and I'm starting to think that I may as well carry on growing out the dye. Having a cancer scare has made me realise growing older may as well be something to celebrate and I may as well spend less time and money in the hairdressers and spend more time exercising and seeing the people that I love! Sorry to offload!!!
