Hi

i have this week had an operation to remove a grade 1 invasive ducal carcinoma from my breast . The specialist says the cancer’s out and I just need a week’s radiotherapy. Do I still need to totally shield? My son moved out temporarily as he needs to work but I want him to come back now. I feel well and am aware we should still keep our distance but as I actually vulnerable To COVID now the cancers gone ? Thanks in advance

  • Hi

you need to ask your specialist /team for a clear answer of what would make you shield . My cancer had gone with mastectomy and I was nearly three months out of chemo . The main thing was a drug I'm on now til next Jan is an antibody drug so I had to shield from early March .

Ring them up and ask explaining about son going to work .Also if you look at gov.uk under shielding guidelines it lists the health reasons for shielding . For instance I am also type two diabetic so that added to my list .

Only your specialist and or GP will be able to advise

    good luck
