Hi Everyone ,Happy Tuesday!  hope youre doing ok!  I finished my 5 day fast forward radiotherapy 2 and a half weeks ago, skin is brill, no blisters or burns, just slightly discoloured Relaxed , but the tiredness seems to be increasing , any handy hints on how to combat this.?? I'm going for walks as usual which helps, and probably just need to weather the storm till tiredness passes, but must admit , its annoying me a little!  xxxxxxx

  • Hi Boober welcome to the forum love the name by the way very appropriate.

Tiredness  is a  side effect of the Radiotherapy and because you don't feel anything when they do it, you think that you are just as you were, but your aren't, your body has been hit with a condensed dose of Radiotherapy. When you have the longer sessions it usually kicks in about day 9-10 but with the condensed dose thats it kicking in now for you. Don't try to override it just go with it and rest as you need to as the more you push the longer it will linger so rest up and take it easy your body has been through the mill and it will pass but it will take time.

Take care and rest up time for some YOU time. Sending some huge big hugs your way for now.xxxxxx

  • Hiya Boober, I’m waiting to start radiotherapy and am a bit anxious about skin burns as my skin is still sensitive from surgery. I’m glad to hear your skin is fine! Did you apply and gels or creams?
    thanks x

  • listen to your body and just rest and drink plenty of water .  It will get better .

  • Hi jules i was anxious too, but radiotherapy was fine!  I was given creams to apply on my first day of zapping, what creams you get seems to vary from health board to health board, I was given steroid  cream to use once a day, and a moisturiser twice daily. I also used aqueous cream as soon as my wounds  healed post op, as my bcn said it may help!  I was expecting burns cos my boobs are pretty big, but my skin is great! Good luck with your radiotherapy, really it's not bad at all, a few mins zapping , and tiredness afterwards, which is annoying, but if it gets rid of Carrie the cancer, it's worth it! I'm just not a fan of the turedness!!    Night night xxxxxx
