Had scans and biopsies today. It looks like breast cancer in the other breast. Nearly 10 years on from last time. Now have to wait a week for full results and treatment plan. Feeling a bit overwhelmed. And now wide awake in the middle of the night!!!

that was last night.  Finally got some sleep.  I’d forgotten how ghastly those small hours can be at times.

  • HI Jejke'

Sorry to hear that you have possibly  joined the club again. The waiting for the results is hell and your mind works overtime,I know. I too had a second breast cancer in the other breast-it somehow seemed more of a shock than the first time 21 plus years ago.I was diagnosed officially just as lockdown came in(having been found on routine mammogram).  Have since had lumpectomy and sentinel node removal and completed 5 days of fast forward radiotherapy 13 days ago. To be honest the treatment has not been as bad as I remembered it and certainly time spent in hospital has been minimal.

So you are not alone ,you have found this site which I am sure will be supportive and is very friendly. There is another thread called Awake which as the name implies operates at night as well as during the day. The crowd on there are known as Fruit Loops and were a life saver for me in the early days distracting me with puzzles and quizes . Give it a look and join in if you wish.

Wishing you all the best whatever the outcome of your tests and do keep in touch.I am sure others will be along to support you and as they have been there and bought the t shirt they really do know what you are going through! Big hugs xxx Kwissy

Now confirmed Grade 2 HER2 positive but now waiting for MRI so no treatment plan yet.  I still haven’t managed to find the Awake group even though I am struggling to sleep!   I don’t think I’ve fully worked out how this site works!!

  • Good morning....

I can't help with the HER2 + info as I was TNBC although I think I've read in posts on here that the best follow on drugs for this type of cancer work better after or with chemo. However that may not be correct. will know and he is often awake early.

I can help you locate the Awake thread though. If you go to the breast cancer community home page....you will see two headings...latest and discussions. If you click discussions it will give you a list of the many thousands since the site began listing the most recent at the top. If you go down that list....Awake won't be far away. ( occasionally slips onto page 2 during the afternoons.) Awake is used as an ' anytime during 24 hours ' group to chat, joke, laugh but also in those more serious moments or times of loneliness to express feelings. You will be welcome there anytime. Some nights are busier than others.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for your MRI and can get started on your treatment soon. How annoying the cancer returned but how lucky it has been found again and can be treated.

    Take care. Love Karen

    Hi

I just replied to your other HER2 and Chemo question here - then found this message after noticing Karen's tag to us (Thanks K) Kissing heart

To help you keep on track, if you look to the right near the top off the page you will see 'Discussion Tools' in bold text ?

If in any discussion you click / tap the 'Save this discussion in my Favourites' button it will save any you select so they can easily be found again under the Favourites Tab on your profile page.

Hope this is of some help, G n' J
