Someone may have posted about this, but not sure where to look. This week I have had a lot of small nose bleeds. I'm not one for blowing my nose, but every now and then I get a blocked nose feeling so blow and have a small blood clot. I will mention it to the Dr tomorrow. I've had 5 cycles and not had it before.
Thanks.
Hi
not sure what treatment plan you are on but I had 4 x EC then was meant to have 12 weekly paxitaxol, around my 3rd paxitaxol I started to have nose bleeds, small ones but they would just start out of the blue. After my 6th paxitaxol my chemo was stopped due to peripheral neuropathy, the nosebleeds continued and got slowing worse and more frequent.
My last chemo was three weeks ago but last Friday the floodgates opened and I had a nosebleed that was like someone had turned on a tap on my nose so trip to A & E who were concerned about my blood levels, but they managed to stem bleeding and I went home. Over the weekend I had a couple of small nose bleeds then Monday morning the gates opened again worse than last time with clots And the blood started to come though my eye which was very scary, so another trip to A & E and this time was then taken to ENT unit to have nose cauterised, not a pleasant experience but by the time they got started by blood pressure was so low due to blood loss I passed out so had to be put on drip and stay a while until pressure came back up.
they advised that there was a vein in my nose that had burst they were not sure whether it was because of the chemo but oncologist thought it may have been.
My advice make sure you tell your care team and oncologist about the nose bleeds, I felt silly at first as it was just a nose bleed, but mine turned into something scary. They can then monitor you better to ensure that they do not get worse.
