Hi there!

I am new here and diagnosed with breast cancer.  It has spread to lymph node, under my armpit.  Starting chemo on 14th, before surgery.  Anybody body got any handy tips of things I need to buy (wide tooth comb, etc) or can expect on my first session please?

Looking forward to chatting more,

Thanks

  • Hello, welcome to the forum nobody wants to join but we are glad we did!!

Take a look through the chemotherapy club thread at the top of the discussions page. There's a new one each month so if there's not much activity yet for July, you should be able to have a look further down the list and find the previous months.

You'll find a link to all the tips there and also be able to chat to people probably having the same treatment as you.

Try not to worry about the chemo, we were all scared but sometimes the thought of it is worse than the reality. Many people cope well with manageable side effects. You'll meet loads of lovely people on the unit and will be well looked after.

    Good luck xx

  • Hello

What chemo are you having? What type of breast cancer do you have?

I'm her2 positive and have had chemo and surgery and soon radiotherapy.

I drank lots of water before during and after each treatment. I didnt overload my stomach with too much food either. Take all the meds they give you as it all helps. Moisturiser is nice to rub on nails and hands and feet after each treatment. Rest when you need to and look after yourself.
