Hi everyone. Had second round of chemo on 11th June. Using cold cap but hair started falling out. Got up this morning and my shoulder length hair was like a birds nest. Combing was impossible. So gave up and got my husband to cut it all off. Surprisingly felt so much better. Hairs a mess though.
Hi Allspot welcome to the forum and I am so very sorry to hear that news, Cancer really is the gift that keeps giving.
I know a lot of my friends and the ladies at the Breast Cancer Support group that I attend did what you have done and shaved it all off and it made them feel better as well and they said it was because it gave them some degree of control over the process which was completely out of the their control.
If you go into the chemo forum some of the ladies in there gave links to various websites that did hats etc specifically for people having chemo and losing hair if that is of any interest to you.
Hope the rest of the chemo goes well and we need plenty of photos when your lovely new locks start to grow back.
Sending some huge big hugs your way meantime. xx
Hi, I had a similar encounter but mine was with clippers..according to the boyfriend I have the wrong hair which is why I ended up looking like a forlorn baby bird and the 'style' had to be completed with kitchen scissors (am sure it was Vidal Sassoon who recommended this method) with which some idiot managed to nick my ear!
Sorry to say in these times but I was at least able to go to the barbers the following day to have it 'sorted'! That was around October last year and haven't had it cut since due to bl00dy lockdown, well I have had a go at shaping around the ears and had to randomly cut off some of the more annoying curls at the back. Am just overjoyed that me and my hairdresser will be reunited 9th July.....
I had long hair & cut it short, as lots do, in preparation but like you it was that 2nd chemo that sealed the deal on a grade 1...I only lost about 40% but it was just far too annoying falling out everywhere and not being able to style a rubbish style for fear of even more departing. I was really glad I got rid of it and despite some in trepidation was really pleased with my 'fierce' new look (good excuse to to wear more make up & bigger earrings).
Really glad you felt better to have taken the leap & good luck with remaining chemo.
Sam
