Hi there, I was just in last week to check a small lump and the consultant is sure its breast cancer, spread to lymph, that was a total shock, but dealt with the shock and now feeling worried again as they just called for emergency CT and Bone Scan. This has thrown me all over again. Can someone hold my hand please and tell me what they think...

  • Hi jacqo,

Sending you big hugs - I know a little of how you are feeling and you have come to the right place for help and support. I am sure others will be along to also hold your hand , maybe even LP if he gets to hear about  you.It all moves so quickly at times and your team have obviously  got things arranged for the tests to assess your particular disease. Please do not ask Mr Google he is not always helpful and often out of date. Do you have a breast care nurse who will be able to give you local information and explain the tests themselves. I have had both Ct and bone scans and you just follow the instructions of the caring people who carry them out- they explain everthing and put you at ease.Ask questions on here - no question is silly and you will get lots of information and support that can be relied on. Also contact the Macmillan nurses ,they are experts in their field.  Hope this helps a little. xxxxx

  • Hi , another warm welcome to this club that none of us would choose to join. Great source of support and shared experiences. ’s got one hand, I’ve got the other, you’ll never be alone here. Sounds like your team is being very thorough which is great. They’re gathering all the information about your particular beast so that they can tailor your treatment. Lots of people here have these tests, it’s all very frightening but good they’re checking everything before coming up with a plan. It’s a truly tortuous time for you, waiting and wondering, many of us have found this stage the worst because of the uncertainty and ‘what ifs’. Get through these days in whatever way you can, apart  from consulting Dr Google, as says there’s lots of old or just wrong information out there. Ask questions here, rant and rave if you need to. Hopefully once you have a treatment plan you’ll at least feel you know what’s coming next.

And when you know what you’re dealing with, others here will have had similar experiences to share.

Sending love and hugs, keep posting and let us know how you are getting on, HFxx

  • Hello

I'm thinking of you. I was sent for a ct and bone scan within days of my diagnosis. When the lymph nodes are involved they need to see if its travelling. Mine was clear and yours will be too I'm sure.

    Keep us posted.

  • Hi, sending virtual hugs as I see other friends here are holding your hands! It is scary. This is one of the most challenging time as often there just seems to be problems rather than solutions. I had both of these scans post surgery...the CT scan is quick and easy, the nuclear bone scan takes a little longer as you have the injection then have the scan a couple of hours later.

Many, many of us have had these scans. They are part of the ‘process’.! All my lymph nodes were positive and I had a large tumour and my scans were clear so I am sure yours will be too.

Any questions please just message us or the nurses here.....make sure you let us know when your scans are too.

    Good Luck and breathe.

  • New to this group myself and have my diagnosis tomorrow - hopefully not in the lymph nodes, but I have found this site a a great deal of comfort and information - best of luck with the results xx

Thanks so much guys, so I had a good and very long and detailed chat with consultant who is a total godsend and so compassionate.

He has informed me that it is stage 2, grade 3 so aggressive and possibly only gone to one lymph. I will have my MRI, Bone and CT scan in one day tomorrow which is great, then oncologist on tuesday. Hopefully I will start chemo in 3 weeks and start to bash this bugger with all the power I have. I think after chemo I will have the op.

I so appreciate all your replies, I wish you all well, much love to you all.

  • Hi

I am just sending you my thoughts and best wishes. Sorry to hear your diagnosis and how this has all been such a sudden shock for you.  You are in the right place for advice and support. At least you know what you are dealing with now and they are moving quickly. It sounds like you have a great consultant who knows how to listen and support you, that in itself is a really good thing. Good luck for all the scans tomorrow. It is a lot to deal with but its very good that this is going to happen quickly for you. This really is one of the toughest parts of this rollercoaster ride, so if you can deal with this part, you can deal with the chemo! I wish you all the best. Sending hugs x
